My Story
About me
Introduction
Hi I’m Mason Briggs and I want to thank you for visiting my website. I’d like to share a little bit about myself with you so that you can get to know me better. I hope you enjoy reading my bio.
I was raised in Valencia, CA, with my parents, Steve & Dina, and two older brothers, Trevor and Tanner. My lifetime home is in an amazing cul-du-sac, where I grew up out in the neighborhood playing every sport imaginable, while making some of my best lifelong friendships. I attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School and then Bishop Alemany High School where I grew in my faith, volunteered throughout the community and proudly earned my Eagle Scout rank., I graduated from Long Beach State University where I was a member of the men’s volleyball team, finishing my career as a 5x All-American and 2x NCAA Finalist. I completed my degree in Business Finance with a minor in Consumer Affairs. I am currently playing professional volleyball in Nice, France in the first League and am a member of the USA Men’s National Team. See the ‘schedule’ tab to follow along with the season!
Early Career
From a young age, my brothers and I all participated in many organized team sports including, volleyball, flag football, baseball, basketball and golf. I feel that being a well rounded athlete eventually led me to find great success in my favorite sport of all, volleyball. I started peppering in the front yard as a two year old and participated in USYVL and park and rec leagues as a youth. By age ten I was eager to play volleyball at a higher level, so I joined Legacy Volleyball Club’s U14’s team and it was then that I knew I had found my passion. When I was eleven years old I tried out for Team USA’s U14’s and made it! That summer, I was invited to go to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs and got my first taste of what it was like to be a part of USA Volleyball. I was hooked! I was in my element and at that moment, standing in front of the Olympic rings, I set a goal for myself to someday be an Olympic athlete and represent our amazing country.
Present
Throughout club and high school I played many positions, including setter, outside hitter and, of course, libero, where I ultimately found my niche. As I continued to play for my high school team, at Legacy and for Team USA, colleges began taking notice and by fall of my sophomore year I was offered a DI scholarship. Although it seemed far off, after contemplating my choices, by that spring I decided that Long Beach State would become my college home. I was excited to follow my brother, Trevor, who played there, and also be close to Tanner, who played at Vanguard University. We are one big volleyball family and staying in So Cal would allow us all to remain close and support each other in the sport. With two more years of high school to go and my college decision already made, I turned my focus toward training harder and at a higher level. Making the Youth National Team each year forward, so that I could travel internationally with USA on my chest, became the goal. My goals were accomplished, each year I was selected. I am now proud to say that I have represented my country, as part of the Team USA pipeline, for 13 consecutive years, now being a member of the Senior National Team.
As my college career came to an end, I have segwayed into living the reality of another goal and dream I have had for a while. I am playing professionally overseas in the first division in France, as well as maintaining my position on the USA Men’s National Team. I am also busy putting my business degree to work by creating several new businesses. I’ve always been an entrepreneur at heart, starting my first business when I was only four years old, then a second and third in my teens. This new website will allow me to share with you both my volleyball related businesses, as well as those non-related to volleyball, like the app, Friendzy, that I am building. As my social media presence has grown, I have found new interests in modeling, videography and marketing, and have surprised myself by learning to enjoy being interviewed and even partake in public speaking (sometimes). I hope you have enjoyed learning a little more about me and I look forward to meeting more of you at my upcoming matches and clinics!
